Emails sent to all Council members concerning important issues.

(However, answers to issues may depend on emails to leaders from many citizens.

If silence persist, recalls or other elective choices can lead to new beginnings)

April 15, 2010

To the citizens of Cleveland,

                                                    A SPECIAL MEMO!

If citizens find the following message below worth passing on, PLEASE, especially to voters who do not vote in local elections, because of standoffish attitudes from many (not all) elected officials. Ever wonder about their attitudes, ever wonder if it’s nothing but a game of theatrics to keep citizens at a distance? One official, Nina Turner said it best when she stated, "I am a legislator!" …translated simply mean, don’t bother me with the facts. But knowledge is power, and when non-voters use it by voting, attitudes will either change beforehand, because leaders know if "knowledge" ever busts loose at the polls, the silent majority (who bypass citizen concerns) in leadership today, will give way to leaders who realize "silence" especially in urban centers, only leads to the decay of communities.

In my last letter on April 7, to Cleveland citizens, I included two emails, one sent to Ward 14 Councilman Brian Cummins, and the second to Ward 8 Councilman Jeffrey Johnson.

The concerns included Council member "Newsletters" which as yet had not been published this year. And a "Log of Works" proposal with a recommendation to include it into newsletters. Accountability of public business procedures is what citizens been asking for…for decades.

And citizen concerns over what the Plain Dealer revealed during former mayor Jane Campbell term in office. And that was "hands off" the schools. The PD wrote about it, but did not provide info on whom ordered the freeze. And it’s very evident the freeze had not been lifted to this day which now includes Frank Jackson and all Council members.

But if I am wrong on any point raised in this message to citizens, Council members from respective Wards need to tell it like it is. I will be raising pages for each Ward as I begin sending emails to leaders about issues that are direct concerns from citizens in every Ward. It is the responsibly of leaders to fulfill promises made, or images instilled in the minds of citizens that sounds promising.

The above issues are just a few concerns of what is to come. The central aim of the Ward pages is merely an extension of my writings. And that is expressing in print what is on the minds of citizens with one added insight (the Ward Pages) to benefit voters when it come time to vote.

Responding to the issues should be the priority of every Council member if that person is sincere in being a true representative of the people. Most citizens do not expect agreements on all issues but do expect responses. Silence is not an end to an issue, but should only be just the beginning. I will encourage citizens to move beyond the "silence" in gaining answers via email or other persuasive (peaceful) efforts with Council members, and share the results on the Ward pages. Reactions to the issues well be shared in an index for quick reference.

A current hot issue on the minds of citizens in Cleveland and beyond is the controversial one of "Traffic Cameras". The hotly debated issue, safety vs. greed as in fleecing the publics money, has now reached the point of gathering signatures from Cleveland and Garfield Heights voters to put the issue for a public vote in November to have the cameras removed. Because the issue of "safely" is secondary, and Council members have not convinced citizens (the majority) of the cameras true presence in Cleveland. The effort is being conducted by the Cuyahoga County for Liberty movement. And I am in full support of removing the cameras and going back to the traditional ways of monitoring "safety" on the streets. Police have been doing the real thing for years. There is more to "safety" on the streets than running red lights and speeding. The "Traffic Cameras" are an easy route to " Easy Money" and that’s all it is.

I will be sending emails to all Council members with the following question. Before the first camera was put in place on the street how did you vote? Did you vote for the cameras or against the measure? Members who were not in office at the time will not receive emails.

I repeat what I stated at the beginning. If you feel this message is worth sharing, send it out to other citizens. At this point in time, most (not all) Council members are not concerned with what the public thinks. But when the thinking turns into doing, as in citizen large numbers, some politicians may find themselves on the out side of City Hall, gathering signatures on petitions in an effort to get back in.
